This was a very interesting job for multiple reasons. I was contacted by the owner of an apartment in Santa Monica who had been using it as an Air BnB for quite some time. He wanted to stop doing Air BnB and move in himself but there were cigarette smoke issues throughout the apartment.
He had even had the carpets and the upholstery cleaned but there was still the smoking smell odor in the drapes and elsewhere.
This was a very nice apartment, 2,800 square feet just 3 blocks from the ocean and with a beautiful view.
As with all jobs, especially of this square footage, it becomes an overnight process: we set up our equipment, open all the cupboards, remove any plants or pets to the garage or sitter, seal the house to contain the ozone so that it can do its work.
The great thing about the ozone treatment is that it dissipates quickly. As soon as we return we open the doors and windows to speed up the process. In 30 minutes 70% of it is gone. Ozone is invisible but it’s heavier than air so once the doors and window are opened it literally pours out of the house.
